Normality Is A Paved Road, But No Flowers Grow On It

When you reach the very end of your life, what will your story be?

Perhaps a little dramatic but inevitable really, so when you reach the end of your life what feelings do you think will take the lead when you look back? Will you be exhilarated? Excited? Regretful?

There’s a never-ending conversation between my actions and unspoken thoughts. If you ask me what my biggest fear is, I’d tell you that it would be looking back on my life and saying things like ‘oh I should’ve done this’ or ‘I wish I did that!’ Having the feeling of regret when I’m older, that’s one of my biggest fears. It took me a while but, I’m glad I've realised that… I’m not normal.

Well, I guess it depends on what your definition of ‘normal’ is but, coming from the perspective of life where we’ve been taught that in order to be successful we need to go to school, get a degree, find a secure full-time job, climb up the ladder of that job, buy a house, get married, and build a family. I guess - and correct me if I’m wrong - that’s what is considered normal these days. Something of which that I don't intend to put in a negative light but I kind of, always, knew that 'normal' had never been for me.I find it unusual when people complain about work and go on and on about how much they hate it without doing anything about it – without changing, or the lack of even trying to change. Why would you spend the majority of your life working in a job you hate, complaining about it in the rest of your spare time, and then go on doing the same thing, over and over?

Please don’t waste your life doing this and call it living.

You and I, in terms of creating success for ourselves, are living in an extremely exciting time. There’s never been an easier way to launch your career or a business that you’re truly passionate about, than right now. The internet has allowed all of us to connect with one another, meet individuals with similar interests (and become friends), fuel our creativity and entrepreneurship, and influence the lives of thousands, even millions, of people. It’s the beauty of this all that allows us to be – and do – anything we want in life. Obsessed with food? Why not set up some food tours in your preferred destination. Love to travel? Build an independent location business from your laptop. There are also plenty of jobs out there that caters to digital nomads. Into photography? Create your online portfolio, network and sell your photos and/or services. The list is never ending, and we’re given a chance in this day and age to make those dreams happen - so take it! Grab it wholeheartedly, start today, and don’t look back. If you're looking for a sign, this is it.There’s no doubt that there are plenty of pressures in life that can either fuel or hinder your choices but fear should never be the base of a concrete decision.

Life unfolds in proportion to your courage, remember?

Yes it’s a big life change, and a scary completely terrifying one at that. But, you know what’s even scarier? Regret.Be brave, be curious, be different.

Normality is a paved road: it’s comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it. —Vincent Van Gogh

Take that leap of faith.

It’s not easy but trust me, it’ll be worth it.
